Homens no Encontro Geral

The men had their moments of learning and exchanging experiences at the “IDSD 2023 General Meeting”. The first moment was on Saturday afternoon, the lecture by Pastor Gil (Congregation in Peruíbe-SP). The pastor gave a biblical explanation on four very important topics for those who wish to “Grow in Grace and Knowledge”:

- Grace: unmerited favor (John 19:30), saving grace (Titus 2:11 and 12), grace to live (Luke 2:52), grace for grace and the truth came through Christ (John 1:17 ). The grace of living is living grace in its fullness, being and acting in such a way that others perceive grace in you. Your life would become the Bible that many sinners will read and your way of acting will witness Christ to them.

This grace will draw them to Christ and make them want to live as He lived.

- The Spirit of God in man's life: God is present in the lives of his servants in three forms, which the pastor conceptualized as the “three spirits of God”.

1st) rûach (Hb), the breath of life or spirit of life. Everyone physically alive has it (Genesis 2:7).

2nd) rûach hamashyach (Hb), “spirit of Christ” or the “mind of Christ” (Romans 8:9), is the action of God in us to transform our character, resulting in attitudes that please God and benefit us personally and to others (Galatians 5:22).

3rd) rûach Kadosh (Hb), “spirit of holiness” or “spirit of the Holy One”, is God acting in us with virtue to carry out his work with boldness, wisdom, discernment, authority and power (Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12 ).

- Free will:

Man is a steerable being, and God gave him the free will to choose who will be the master of this direction. God or the devil? Blessing or curse?

Man decides whether Christ or the enemy will have control of his life, and thus uses free will in this decision. And his life will be directed according to his choice. The apostle Paul understood this well and wrote: “I have been crucified with Christ. Thus, it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). He did the will of his Lord Christ and not the other way around, it was not Christ who did the will of Paul.

Free will is for man to choose who he wants to be the driver of his life, who he wants to be his Lord.

- The willingness to serve God: we must always be active and active in the Lord's harvest. It's better to be in the field than to be in the square! (Matthew 20:1-16). The work of the Lord needs more workers (Matthew 9:38). Let us be one of those who are willing to work (Hebrews 3:7, 8, 13 and 14).

Another very special moment happened on Sunday morning: “The circle of testimonies.” All the brothers present were edified by hearing each other's reports of victory and overcoming provided by faith in God.

The closing took place in the afternoon, with the lecture “Called to Lead”, with the speakers being the pastors: Eugenio (IDSD Colombo), Jaime (IDSD Lontras) and Samuel (IDSD SJRP).

The focus of the word was that man must have/be: Conduct of prayer, fasting and word: Daniel and Jesus. Serve and develop gifts and abilities (Matthew 15:14-30); Courage to make decisions: Noah; Abraham; Josue; Jesus and the apostles; Prioritize the Kingdom of God: The spiritual above the material (Matthew 6:33; Luke 9:62; Matthew 9:38); Example at home: Pastor of the home, leader of his wife and children. Family worship, honesty, living the gospel daily to influence children (1 Timothy 3:1-13; Deuteronomy 6:4-10); Example in the Church: Be aligned with the purposes and doctrines of the Church (1 Timothy 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:14-17). The Church is holy, its doctrines are for the practice of holiness.

The meetings with the men were very spiritual and appealing so that everyone could make themselves available to the Kingdom of God, seek to develop their abilities and talents in their local congregations and be committed to the national projects of the Publishing House of the Seventh-day Church of God.
